re:sharks and kayaks
Good morning to all-
New guy on this forum.
Here's what I think about sharks and kayaks. First, i have kayaked in saltwater both inshore and offshore for many years. I have seen sharks big enough to pucker me up tight. I have hooked a number of sharks while kayak fishing. I don't worry about sharks much at all.
First, sharks want something to eat, and if you don't present them something to eat- and that includes yourself, there won't be a problem. Next, I NEVER put caught saltwater fish I plan to keep on a stringer. that's the best way in the world to learn more about sharks than you ever want to know very quickly. Use a keeper box or ice chest- anything that doesn't allow fish blood to escape into the water. finally, i NEVER bring a shark of any size into the kayak. I get it to the boat as close as I think is wise and then I cut the line. Even a little bitty shark which is brought aboard a kayak can cause a lot of damage and pain.
Treat them respect and sharks are really no big deal- like a lot fo people I know, really.
you all be safe and keep well-Ed
